Hourly Cafeteria Worker
Job Description:
Hourly Cafeteria Worker is an entry-level substitute position in the Department of Food and Nutrition Services. Hourly workers may be called to work one to five days per week, depending on vacancies within schools. Employee has the option to accept or decline work as it is made available.
Examples of Duties: Ability to maintain good relationships with students, teachers, other employees and support staff.
Assists in the preparation of foods using standardized recipes and portion controls.
Sets up food on serving lines and/or steam tables and serves meals or meal components.
Conducts the cashiering function in accordance with procedures.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work areas including the kitchen floors, walk-in refrigerators, and storage areas.
Follows established Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures and food safety standards.
Assists with maintaining records such as production sheets and HACCP logs.
Properly stores food and supplies.
Transports food to other locations, if required.
Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work performed in a kitchen environment. Duties require frequent lifting and carrying including objects up to 40 pounds, the ability to bend and kneel on a regular basis and stand for three hours or more consecutively.
Salary Information:
Hourly Cafeteria Workers are paid for time worked at $11.00 an hour. If the employee is recommended for per diem (per day) hire, will earn $11.65 an hour. For an employee to qualify for this level, one must be recommended by a manager, have a long-term evaluation completed and attend sanitation class.
Shift Type:
Employee will normally work no more than 3.75 hours per day between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
