Curriculum Specialist for World Language Programs

 

The Content Curriculum Specialist position is a ten-month teacher position that will sustain efforts as Harford County continues the required transition to the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, the PARCC assessments, the Teacher and Principal Evaluation Model, and play an integral part in all World Languages initiatives and services. This position will provide direct support to schools by working directly with administrators, teachers and students to include: observation and evaluation, professional development, and other related content initiatives and services.   In addition to working with teachers, the Curriculum Specialist will collaborate with other content supervisors, the Office of Professional Development, and Instructional Leadership Teams.

•           Curriculum Specialists work a minimum of one additional hour per day beyond the teacher schedule.

•           This position is eligible for the Teacher Specialist Stipend.

DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES

       Participates and provides input into the observation and evaluation of teachers as appropriate.

       Partners with the Office of Professional Development and content supervisors in the creation, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of content-specific professional development for school administrators and teachers through systemic, job-embedded, and beyond the duty day professional development.

       Works directly with students during classroom instruction as it relates to World Languages instruction.

       Implements and models effective instruction for teachers and students.

       Monitors student achievement through the collection and analysis of data.

       Applies knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in World Languages.

       Collaborates with Supervisor of English Language Learners and World Language Programs to provide instructional support and professional development for teachers as they work with World Languages learners.

       Participates and leads the creation and presentation of curriculum, assessment, and other instructional materials.

       Assists with the operations of the Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in such areas as informational reports, program evaluation, and grant implementation.

       Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

 

 

SALARY

       Salary is in accordance with the HCEA ten-month salary schedule for certificated teachers.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

       Must hold or be eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate with an endorsement in the requisite content area.

       Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.

       Hold or be eligible for certification as Administrator I, preferred.

       Experience and/or coursework in curriculum development and supervision; prior experience in content related leadership role, e.g., Department Chairperson, Teacher Specialist, etc. preferred.

       Demonstrated content mastery.

       Experience working with both information and instructional technology.

       Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

       Demonstrated leadership, management, and organizational skills.
