Establishes and coordinates the PTECH steering committee – comprised of representatives from Harford County Public Schools, Harford Community College (HCC), Aberdeen Proving Grounds Communications-Electronics Command (APG CECOM) and any additional industry partners – to develop and conduct outreach and recruitment activities, develop promotional materials, plan events, build business/community partnerships to support the program, and facilitate family and community engagement.
Models lessons demonstrating research-based instructional practices in early college programs.
Provides school-based professional development and support to classroom teachers.
Recruits students for the PTECH program while communicating to parents the level of commitment required for students’ success in the program.
Plans and facilitates extended day programs to provide remediation assistance as needed.
Plans a summer institute to generate excitement and enthusiasm for the program while providing students and their parents with an introduction to the concepts and content of the program and assessing students’ personal interests, knowledge of engineering concepts, and readiness for college coursework.
Assists with the revision, development, and alignment of the HCPS curriculum with the PTECH instructional focus.
Provides support to school staff in the planning and implementation of PTECH as specified in the Pathways in Technology Early College High (P-TECH) School Act of 2017.
Coordinates and facilitates the mentoring and summer internship programs for PTECH students.
Coordinates and facilitates ongoing communications among the Harford County PTECH partners: HCPS, HCC APG CECOM, and any additional industry partners.
Works with a planning committee to develop and conduct outreach and recruitment activities, develop promotional materials, plan events, build business/community partnerships to support the program, and facilitate family and community engagement.
Monitors applicant and enrollment data, student engagement and academic performance, and other grant-related performance data.
Facilitates intervention support services as needed to assist students to improve academic performance.
Assumes fiscal planning for the school’s PTECH program, assisting the CTE Office in the procurement of equipment and materials, and maintaining school-based inventory of equipment and materials purchased with grant funds.
Distributes information about PTECH with members of the school community through the development and distribution of program literature, social and web-based media, in-person events, and other outreach materials.
Facilitates intervention support services as needed to assist students to improve academic performance.
Serves as a liaison for local, state, and national organizations for CTE and PTECH programming issues.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
